Copper Plant

There is no less copper than nickel in the Norilsk ore. Thus, Nickel is considered to be a more rare and valuable metal, so in the early stages of the plant development the copper was treated as a by-product. It remained in the background, but in the second half of the 1940s construction of the Copper Plant, concentrated on the copper production, was started. Dec. 21, 1949, it issued the first blister copper.
